THE SOBRIETY ANNIVERSARY – PART 14 – A TESTED SOBRIETY;
In March 2022, as I was counting down to my 10th year of sobriety, a thought crossed my mind: why not celebrate it with a party? Ten years wasn’t just a number, it was a testimony. I had walked through darkness and somehow, by God’s grace, come out still standing. I shared the idea with Ann, and she immediately bought into it.
I drafted a list of contacts, people I wanted to share that moment with, and even drafted a message to send to them. Ann took it from there. She ran with the idea in a way that amazed me. She threw herself into the details, organizing the event with such energy and love.
Her original plan was to keep it a surprise for me. But I guess the pressure of planning, coupled with her excitement, got the best of her. Somewhere in the process, she accidentally revealed the venue to me.
I laughed when I found out. It didn’t spoil the moment for me…
