CELEBRATING RECOVERY MILESTONES
It’s always good to share and celebrate your recovery milestones, and it’s even better to share when you relapse. In sharing both, you find support, encouragement, guidance, comfort and pats on the back.
I wonder where I would’ve been had I not shared after I relapsed. It was a heavy fall after 10 months of sobriety. I remember guys in the program bringing me Big Books and other literature, in the hope that setting up a meeting on campus would help me get sober again after I relapsed. I was in a new surrounding without meetings.
I also remember mom coming to check on me at hostel in an attempt to help me. This carried with it so much shame and guilt, but sharing helped to deal with it. This was in spite of being on an intermittent binge for 8 months after I relapsed.
When I finally got sober, there was no turning back.
