STEERING WHEEL – CHOICES INSPIRED BY HOPE
In the continuation of the F1 And Mental Health Series, I want to talk about the steering wheel.
The steering wheel of a Formula 1 car is often described as “a computer with handles attached.” It acts as the driver’s command center, allowing them to control dozens of settings while racing at speeds of over 300 km/h (186 mph).
I will break down what the different buttons and controls do in later posts, but for now, I want to share some general insights on how the steering wheel relates to F1 And Mental Health.
The steering wheel represents what enables us to direct our healing journey. It helps us navigate the many ups and downs, twists and turns, triggers and potential setbacks, moments of vulnerability and moments of strength in sobriety. It represents the choices and decisions we make, especially those inspired by hope.
